Winslow Public Schools is Hiring a Director of Education Near Winslow, ME

Winslow Public Schools is seeking a Director of Special Services.

POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • (030) Certification from Maine Department of Education
  • Knowledge and understanding of State, local and federal regulations and policies affecting special education
  • CHRC certification
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in the appropriate field
  • Three (3) years plus of experience in a school setting, preferably in a special education classroom
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools.

JOB GOAL:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with staff and the general public.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain appropriate contact with the Special Education Division of the Maine Department of Educational and Cultural Services;
  • Maintain appropriate records, both state and local, for children receiving special education services;
  • Oversee and monitor all the activities of the Individual Educational Plans (IEP);
  • Monitor the program/educational progress of children placed in day and residential schools;
  • Supervise the individual educational plans of children with disabilities;
  • Supervise, and evaluate of performance of personnel assigned to the special education program;
  • Prepare budget requests for the special education department;
  • Coordinate in-service training programs for personnel involved with special education;
  • Work collaboratively with building principals and other directors to insure a total team effort for student educational programming;
  • Performance of any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
